::- What's an example of a
straightforward project?
You'd like to commission a 3 - 5 minute song that contains
common instruments like guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and vocals,
and you'd like to receive a CD and framed lyrics for presentation
to your loved one. You may (or may not) have some lyrical
ideas to contribute and some guidance to provide regarding the
genre of music that your loved one likes the best. You have
an occasion in mind that's at least 2 months away.

::- What's an example of a more involved
project?
A more involved project could include some or all of the
following:
- Special instrumentation (e.g., horns) or vocals (e.g., a female
rhythm and blues singer)
- Collaboration with you or others on either the songwriting or
recording of tracks
- Performance of your song at a special occasion or party
- Production of a music video or montage
- Creation of an original painting of your lyrics
- A short timeframe (less than 2 months)
Virtually any request can be
accommodated: If you want to propose to your loved one by
way of a music video of your song, it can be done! If your
child wants to perform an original song with his or her
budding band at a bar or bat mitzvah reception or sweet sixteen, it can be
done! If you want to sing your song to your loved one in
front of family and friends, but have never done anything like
that before, it can be done!

::- Can DB work directly with my
party planner, DJ, or band?
Absolutely. Once DB understands the kind of song you'd
like and how you'd like it presented, he is more than happy to
coordinate directly with whomever is planning or coordinating your
event to ensure that the presentation of your song is everything
you want it to be.

::- How long does it take?

suggested, though shorter timeframes can be accommodated.
For more involved projects, the lead time will be longer and will
depend upon
the scope of the commission.

::- What about copyright and ownership?
All original compositions are copyrighted and the copyright is
held and administered by The Song Studio. If you make
substantive contributions to the lyrics or music of the song, you will be
credited as a co-author (should you so desire.) The contract
for your commissioned song will state that any future royalties derived from the song will be
split evenly between The Song Studio and you or your designee.
In other words, if your song ever finds its way to a larger
audience, you will receive half of the royalties!
